Digital business card app
Your card is a web page, so neither you nor the person you hand it to downloads anything. Your own BioCard is free, plus 5 Client Cards free; Pro raises that to 25 Client Cards for $9.99/month. Below: how that compares to app-based tools, what the free plan really includes, and where we fall short.
A digital business card app lets you build a shareable contact profile and send it by QR code, link or NFC tap. Some are native apps you install from the App Store or Google Play; others, Blyn included, run entirely in the browser with nothing to download. Either way the person receiving your card should never need to install anything to open it, and if a tool requires that, it will not work in practice. Beyond the download question, the choice comes down to what the free plan actually includes, whether you can capture the details of people you meet, and whether you can see what happens after you share. This page covers those trade-offs rather than ranking products.
Some tools are app-first and some are browser-based. What matters more is the receiving end, if the person you just met has to install something to see your details, most won't. Check that your card opens in a plain phone browser.
Free tiers vary enormously. The usual restrictions are a cap on how many cards you can create, a limit on shares or scans per month, branding on the card, and analytics reserved for paid plans. Read the limits, not the word free.
A card that only pushes your details outward leaves you with nothing. If you want to follow up, you need lead capture: an email field or a short form on the card itself, and the ability to export what you collect.
NFC cards feel good and work well if you hand out details constantly. Be clear on what you're buying though: almost all of them simply open a web page, and a free QR code opens the same page. The tap is a nicer interaction, not a different capability.
We make one of these, so treat this as our pitch rather than a neutral verdict. Here's what it does and doesn't do.
Your card is a web page. You build it in a browser and the person receiving it opens it in theirs. Neither side installs an app.
Build and preview the whole card as a guest. You only create an account when you want to publish it at useblyn.com/@yourname.
Email capture and custom lead forms are included free, not held back for an upgrade. The people who scan your card become contacts you own.
See views and clicks per link, so you know which parts of your card people actually use.
Download your code and put it on print, packaging, a badge or a slide. It points at the live card, so editing the card updates what people get.
Booking page, portfolio, shop, calendar, WhatsApp, as many buttons as you need on one card.
We don't sell NFC cards, so a physical tap card is something Blyn doesn't cover today. You can still print a Blyn QR code onto anything you like.
Most templates show a small "Made with Blyn" badge at the bottom of the published card. Two of the simpler templates don't.
Setting up cards for other people, like an agency's clients or a small team you look after? Client Cards lets one Blyn account create and manage multiple BioCards, separate from your own card. Your BioCard is free, plus 5 Client Cards free. Pro gives you up to 25 Client Cards for $9.99/month.
What it doesn't do: the people on the cards don't get their own logins or permissions, and there's no single sign-on, CRM or HR sync, spreadsheet import, locked brand templates or white-label option. For larger company rollouts that need SSO, CRM sync, advanced permissions or centralized provisioning, Blyn may not yet cover every requirement.

Two kinds of QR code, and they behave differently
A static vCard QR encodes your details into the image itself. It works offline and never expires, but it is fixed: change your number and every printed card is wrong. A BioCard QR points at a page instead, so the code stays the same and you edit what it opens. Our free generator makes the static kind, no account needed, if that is the one you want.

A card is for the moment you meet someone; an email signature works on every message after that. The free Email Signature Generator builds one from the same contact details, runs in the browser exactly as the card does, and needs no account either.

FAQ
Everything worth knowing about digital business card apps before you start.
There isn't one best answer, and any vendor telling you otherwise is ranking themselves. Pick on the trade-offs above. Blyn doesn't make physical tap cards or a native app, so if either is a requirement it won't cover everything you need. If you want lead capture and analytics without paying, and you'd rather not install anything, that's the gap Blyn aims at.
Yes. Save your card's QR code to your photos or set it as your lock screen, and you can show it to anyone without an app, an internet connection on your side, or a physical card. It's the cheapest approach that works properly.
Several have free tiers, Blyn included. The word free does a lot of work though. Check the number of cards, monthly share or scan caps, whether branding appears on the card, and whether analytics and lead capture are held back. Those are where free plans usually stop.
Yes. Blyn's free plan is permanent rather than a trial, and some other tools offer one-time payments instead of a subscription. Paying once or not at all is a realistic option in this category.
Not with every tool. Some are native apps you install from the App Store or Google Play, and some, including Blyn, are browser-based with nothing to download on either side. The part that matters most is the receiving end: whoever you share with should be able to open your card in a plain phone browser. A tool that makes them install something to see your details will not survive contact with a real conversation.
No. Blyn is a web product, not a native app, and we would rather say that plainly than imply otherwise. You build and edit your card in a browser on a phone or desktop, and your card opens in a browser for the person receiving it. The practical upside is that there is nothing to install, update or check compatibility for.
Yes, on both, and there's nothing to install on either. Your card is a web page, so you build it in a phone or desktop browser and the person you share it with opens it in theirs. That also means it works the same on an old Android as on the newest iPhone. No app store, no compatibility to check.
Partly. Showing your QR code works offline because the code lives on your device, but the person scanning it needs a connection to load your card. At venues with poor signal, a paper card as backup is still sensible.
Not better, just different. NFC is a smoother interaction and looks impressive, but almost all NFC cards open a web page. The same page a QR code opens. NFC costs money per card and depends on the recipient's phone cooperating; QR is free and works on essentially everything.
Yes, with Client Cards. One Blyn account can create cards for other people, organize them by client, duplicate a card for the next person, publish each at its own handle, download each card's QR code, and see leads and analytics for every card. Your BioCard is free, plus 5 Client Cards free; Pro gives you up to 25 for $9.99/month. The people on the cards don't get their own logins. For larger company rollouts that need SSO, CRM sync, advanced permissions or centralized provisioning, Blyn may not yet cover every requirement.
Yes. Your own card stays at useblyn.com/@yourname, and Client Cards lets the same account manage more cards alongside it: 5 free, or up to 25 on Pro ($9.99/month). Archived cards don't count toward the limit. If you leave Pro, cards over the free limit go offline until you archive others or upgrade again; nothing is deleted. You can take any card offline and read every card's leads in one place.
Yes, though anyone holding your old QR code or link will still be pointing at the old card. If you think you might move, favor tools that let you export your captured contacts, and be prepared to reprint anything with the old code on it.
Build a card in your browser, see exactly what people will see, and sign up only if you want to publish it. Your own BioCard and 5 Client Cards are free.
